AUTO REGISTRATION
Tennessee law requires that any motor vehicle owned by a resident must be registered with a Tennessee title, certificate of registration and license plate. The can be done through the Maury county Clerk’s Office in the Maury County Courthouse. The charge for this is $34.50. Commercial vehicles and others must contact the Maury County Clerk for costs. Maury County has assessed a wheel tax of $25.00 per year to be paid with license renewal. 375-5200

VOTER REGISTRATION
You may register to vote at the Registrar’s Office in the Maury County courthouse or at the Tennessee Drivers License office. Tennessee requires that your registration from the previous state must be turned in, and the Registrar’s Office takes care of that. 375-6001

AUTOMOBILE DRIVER’S LICENSE
A new resident must obtain a Tennessee Driver’s License no later than thirty (30) days after establishing residence. No road test is necessary if the out-of-state license is still valid, unless the examiner deems necessary. An eye test is required. 380-2548

UTILITY SERVICES

Columbia Water:
Make application with power application. A deposit of $20.00 if you are renting inside city limits or $30.00 if renting outside city limits. All deposits are refundable after 15 months of good credit. First billing contains $20.00 connection fee. No deposit is required if you own. 388-4833

Atmos Energy:
Call toll free to make application 1-888-824-3434 – first billing contains deposit. Deposit varies.

Spring Hill Water System:
Make application in person or by fax; 2 IDs required. $50.00 non-refundable deposit. 486-2252 or 486-0516 (fax)

Mt. Pleasant Power System:
Make application in person. Picture ID required. $50.00 deposit required if you own, $200.00 if renting. Deposit refundable on final billing. $20.00 connection fee added to first bill. 379-3233

Mt. Pleasant Water System:
Make application in person. $50.00 deposit required if you own. $100.00 connection fee and $100.00 deposit required if renting. 379-7717

Mt. Pleasant Gas System:
Make application in person. $50.00 connection fee and $50.00 deposit required if you own. $200.00 deposit and $100.00 connection fee if renting. 379-7717

OTHER SERVICES:

Duck River Electric Membership Corporation:
Make application in person. $50.00 deposit required if you own. $210.00 and up if renting house; $110.00 if mobile home (own); $210.00 if in mobile home park, refundable on final billing. Draws interest. $10.00 service charge on first billing. 388-3131

Maury County Water System:
Make application in person. $10.00 deposit if you own the house; $50.00 deposit if you own the house; $50.00 deposit if you rent or own a single wide mobile home. $20.00 non-refundable application fee. If paying deposits by credit card, there is an additional $2.00 fee. 381-8900

Telephone:
Telephone Service for Maury County is furnished by Bellsouth. New service may be obtained by calling Toll Free: 1-888-757-6500

Cable:
Local Cable TV Service is provided by Charter Communications. New service may be obtained by calling 1-866-472-2200, by going to the local office located at 208 S. Main St., or on the web at www.charter.com

Columbia Power & Water Systems offer cable TV services within the city limits of Columbia. 388-4833

PROPERTY TAXES
Property taxes are due and payable as follows:

City of Columbia:
November 1 through December 15 without penalty at City Hall, 707 North Main St., Columbia.

City of Mt. Pleasant:
October 1 through March 1 without penalty at City Hall, Public Square, Mt. Pleasant.

City of Spring Hill:
October 1 through March 1 without penalty at City Hall, Public Square, Spring Hill.
